This page is a work in progress. I will add new resources and links as I find them relevant.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy? CBT focuses on how are thoughts trigger our feelings and behaviors. Helping people become aware of how everyday situations trigger automatic thoughts, strong emotional feelings, and behaviors, is key in CBT. The goal is to develop a more realistic and balanced way of thinking, feeling, and acting. Also, to identify distorted thinking patterns or faulty beliefs.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
What is it? EMDR is a form of bilateral stimulation to activate your problem solving process. By focusing on a specific problem and the positive/negative cognitions, emotions, and sensations, then adding bilateral simulation, your brain begins problem solving. Since you are focusing on the specific problem, your brain is able to work through it more effectively. If you are interested in trying this treatment approach, I am willing to facilitate this type of change.
